AJ Styles bid farewell to Japan a week-and-a-half ago, wrestling Kofi Kingston at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
Following the match, there was an emotional sendoff in the ring. Hoisted onto the shoulders of Ivar and CM Punk, the moment afforded Styles one last chance to soak up an ovation from a Japanese fan base that helped change the direction of his career.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that I may not have made it to WWE without Japan,” said Styles. “My tenure in Japan helped me figure out who I was and what I wanted to do.”
