The Young Bucks and Jurassic Express wrestled a classic this past Saturday at WrestleDream, adding a new twist to one of the promotion’s original feuds.
Jurassic Express won the bout when Jack Perry and Luchasaurus hit their Countdown to Extinction finisher, a move that hadn’t been seen in some time. That was similar to the match’s aftermath, when the crowd at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis was nearly treated to a reunion between Perry and the Young Bucks’ Matt and Nick Jackson.
Per the stipulation of the match, the winners were to receive $500,000. Since the Bucks are currently broke, a brilliant storyline that has made them pay for their past sins, they desperately needed the money. Despite winning, Perry appeared to be willing to share the pelf with the Jacksons. But that is when Josh Alexander attacked Perry, ending any chance of a reunion.
Alexander was soon joined by Mark Davis and Lance Archer of The Don Callis Family, who continued their beatdown. That changed when Kenny Omega evened the odds, protecting Jurassic Express–and imploring the Bucks to help.
The scene was reminiscent of a recent event on Dynamite, where it appeared that the Bucks and Omega were going to reconcile their differences. Yet that potential moment was shattered when Alexander seized the moment to attack Omega.
The Bucks didn’t heed Omega’s plea to help Perry, at least not yet. Both interactions served as reminders of the undeniable chemistry between the Bucks and Omega, a friendship that dates back to 2008. In fact, on the day of Matt Jackson’s wedding in 2008, Nick Jackson left the wedding early to make a wrestling booking–a story he shared later that same night with a bemused Omega.
“There’s magic in that ring when we stand in there with Kenny Omega,” said Matt Jackson. “Whether it’s on opposing sides or together, there’s definitely chemistry like no other.
