As Voltaire would say, If Maxwell Jacob Friedman didn’t exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

All Elite Wrestling’s reigning world champ made a stop on the indies this past weekend, braving the northeast cold in Lewiston, Maine to wrestle Alec Price for Limitless Wrestling. And wrestle they did–Friedman was his superb self, affording indie stalwart Price a whole new spotlight.

Considering Friedman defeated Bandido two days prior on Dynamite–another outstanding title defense–that meant the title was on the line against Price.

Though Price was unable to dethrone Friedman, losing a very compelling match, he did come away with a different sort of victory. Friedman offered AEW contracts to Price and his tag partner Jordan Oliver, who both accepted the offer.

“I look at Alec Price and Jordan Oliver, and I think they have what it takes and then some,” said Friedman. “They can be a part of this new generation. They’re both extremely talented.

“And I know I have a responsibility with the position I’m in, and it’s one I don’t take lightly. Cultivating professional wrestling–that excites me.”
